Brierley Group Quarter 2 2024/25 Performance Report
The report of the Assistant Director Commercial, Property and Procurement providing a Quarter 2 financial and performance update for 2024/25 for the companies that make up the Brierley Group for the financial year to 30 September 2024.
Kerry Metcalfe, Assistant Director Commercial, Property and Procurement introduced the report, providing an overview of performance and highlighting the Quarter 2 achievements and challenges for the individual companies. She drew Members’ attention to the continued strong performance across the group and the overall pre-tax profit of £4.45m for the year. This represented a positive variance of £1.560m against budget for the year, and an improvement of £1.163m in comparison to the forecast reported at Quarter 1. Align and Yorwaste in particular were doing well, with pre-tax profits of over £1m projected for each company for the year, and overall Shareholder Value of c£14m projected for the year.
Services previously delivered through Brimhams Active and Maple Park had now transferred back to NYC and would be managed within the General Fund therefore would be excluded from this report after this year.
In response to a question from Councillor George Jabbour the Assistant Director advised that increased Yorwaste profits resulted from both increased efficiencies and an increase in commercial income.
Members noted the report and thanked officers for the update.
